Am I Ready to Buy?
Own the Crescent knows that buying a home is one of the biggest investments that you will ever make in your life and so we encourage everyone to learn more about the process as soon as possible. If you are just starting to look for a house or if you are getting ready to close on your mortgage with the bank, the Louisiana Homebuyer Education Collaborative has information, resources, training and counseling available that will help you make the best possible decision.
The Louisiana Homebuyer Education Collaborative holds member organizations accountable to a high standard of quality service. All offer approved 12-hour homebuyer education classes.
Many counseling agencies are able to offer home purchase subsidies to income eligible families. The amount and type of subsidy offered will differ from agency to agency but are commonly structured in the form closing cost or down payment assistance. The Louisiana Homebuyer Education Collaborative is also working closely with the City of New Orleans to provide access to its soft-second mortgage product.
