Project Home Again

Project Home Again is a nonprofit, housing development organization created by the Leonard and Louise Riggio Foundation shortly after Hurricane Katrina to build high-quality, energy-efficient homes for low and moderate-income New Orleanians. Project Home Again is currently building 100 beautiful, energy efficient homes in the neighborhoods of northern Gentilly. The houses are for sale to families who qualify for the City of New Orleans Soft Second Mortgage Program.

Applicants MUST qualify for the City of New Orleans Soft Second Mortgage Program.  PHA offers additional homebuyer subsidies of $3,000 and $3,500 toward closing costs fees.  Additional homebuyer subsidy may be available.

Home features: Ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances, ENERGY STAR appliances and light fixtures, engineered wood floors, window treatments, granite counter tops, 9ft. ceilings, solid maple cabinets, full perimeter security system, trace ceilings on the master bedrooms.  All homes exceed mandated flood elevation.

Green Elements: All homes meet Department of Energy’s Builders Challenge Quality Criteria, utilize closed cell spray foam insulation throughout, and feature energy efficient low-E impact windows and passive airflow design.  Many of the homes will feature solar panels.
